Account & Data Deletion
At MammalList, we respect your privacy and give you full control over your personal data. If you wish to delete your account and all associated data, you can do so directly within the mobile application or by submitting a manual web request below.
Method 1: Delete Account In-App (Instant)
If you currently have the MammalList application installed on your device, you can delete your account and data immediately:
- Open the MammalList app on your device.
- Navigate to your Profile tab.
- Tap Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap Delete Account.
- Confirm your selection when prompted.
Method 2: Web / Manual Deletion Request
If you no longer have access to the MammalList app, have uninstalled it, or prefer to submit a web request, you can request account deletion via email:
Send an email to support@mammallist.com with the following details:
- Subject: Account Deletion Request
- Body: The registered email address associated with your MammalList account.
Requests sent via email will be processed within 30 days. You may be asked to verify ownership of the email account before deletion is finalized.
Data That Will Be Deleted
Upon a successful Delete Account request, we delete the user’s authentication account and associated profile and user-generated content, including:
- Account and sign-in identity
- Profile information (username, name, country, contact fields, profile photo)
- Mammal sightings and related sighting data
- Photos uploaded with sightings
- Likes, comments, and follows associated with the account
- Community posts created by the user (including trip reports and non-sighting posts)
- Guide-related profile data stored in our database (e.g. specializations and upcoming trips)
Deletion is initiated immediately when the user confirms account deletion in Profile/Settings.
Data That May Be Kept
We may retain limited information where required for security, abuse prevention, or legal compliance, such as:
- Content or safety reports submitted by or about the user
- Moderation and security logs
- Backup copies maintained by our hosting provider for a limited period
Additional Retention Period
User-requested account deletion: processed without an intentional additional retention period for active app data.
